Welcome Summer!

I thought this lovely Victorian picture was well suited for the first day of summer. White dresses, parasols and lovely hats. You can almost smell the grass and trees. My great great grandmother was born, raised and married in Loudon County, Virginia. Her name was Fannie Mae Haws. She dressed just like the ladies in the picture and always wearing gloves because it was not proper for ladies to tan or freckle.

I`ve gone back to Bloggers Minima template. The new Template Designer is too clunky to suit me. I like that there are 3 column templates, however I had more room in my sidebars when I coded Minima myself adding a left sidebar. For today there is one sidebar, by tonight I might add another. The old templates are still available. Go to Design, there is a "back to blogger" link. Go there, click "edit HTML". Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will the Layout Templates. To edit the Layout templates, go back to the Template Designer, click "Advanced" and you can edit fonts, colors etc there. Very easy.

Windy and cool here this morning with lots of dust in the air. I won`t have to use the air conditioners till this afternoon. Huge fires near Flagstaff fed by wind and dry fuels. A camper was arrested for starting one of the fires.

Have a great day everyone.

  2. Hi Marilyn,

I whine about summer and heat, but I actually do like summer! LOL The birds are sweet. There is constant chirping outside our windows.

  3. I love your grandmother's name...one of my favorite! During these hot days of summer, I can not imagine wearing those dresses....and gloves - I'd faint for sure! Guess that's why I have freckles just about everywhere the sun hits :)
    Happy Summer to you Catherine!

  6. Happy first day of summer! Lovely picture.

I saw the Flagstaff fires on the news this evening ...such terrible destruction!

I have not played with my blog template in a long time. I am afraid of doing something to mess it all up. Some nice music playing here tonight Catherine

  7. Sue, I can`t imagine how hot those women were in the summer. No air getting anywhere. Maybe they were cooler in their regular clothes. And having to wash those white clothes!

Pat your blog template is just fine. I love seeing that skyline everyday.
