Cool Weather and A Christmas Project

There is a cool breeze this morning. I am glad to be rid of most of the humidity. Got our electric bill yesterday which is quite large but expected. The air conditioners have been running constantly the last three weeks. Yesterday was the first morning I walked in about two weeks. It was 5:30 and nothing was moving but me. I was a little leery of snakes. They like cool mornings too, but none were about. Just me and the doves.

The first picture is the road to Meadview. It`s funny how you take your surroundings for granted. The last two are Grand Canyon. Now that the temps are lower I can take fresh pictures this week.

This is one of the afghans I`m making my son and dear daughter in law for Christmas.
The pattern is "Magnolia" and can be found at Lion Brand. The picture is courtesy Lion Brand. It is crocheted with their Homespun brand yarn. I`m going to make it in blue as shown and double the size. I hope to get started in late August.

The people in Flagstaff are suffering greatly with flash floods because of the loss of forest and vegetation in the Schultz fire. If you live nearby perhaps you can help them fill sandbags. They are in my prayers.

Blessings,
Cathy

  1. First of all Catherine.... The Afghan pattern is lovely. So unusual & I am sure it will look beautiful for them.
We are so humid this morning. DH got up at 1 a.m. for a run & I went back to bed only to get up at 3:30 a.m.
I have had the AC on since then. I too dread the electric bill & am expecting a whopper!
To be HOT & HUMID tomorrow with temps in the 90's.... ugh... Another day inside!!
Take Care & enjoy the cool breezes!
    Have A Great Weekend!
    Love,
    Marilyn

  3. What a wonderful gift! I'm so glad your daughter in law is a blessing to you as well as your son.

Wish I could fill sandbags. We are having flash flooding around here, too, but being in the Coulee Region (which was basically formed by prehistoric flash flooding), we are kind of used to it. It's awful in the desert, when the poor thirsty land cannot soak up the water fast enough and it is just lost, destroying things on its way.
