Flowers, Fridges and The Phantom Road Grader

Beautiful Spring Day! It`s been a heck of a two weeks. Most of you know I have two refrigerators. That wonderful 38 year old GE and a Frigidaire, maybe 6 or 7 years old. The GE is showing signs the compressor is going. Twice I`ve moved food to the back up fridge. We are far from town and a back up is a necessity. We`ll replace one and then the other. We are also replacing a less than 7 year old GE chest freezer next week. I`ve been looking at Sears Kenmore. Doubt that they are good as they used to be. I hate the new stuff. Nothings lasts. No big deal really, just everything at once.

The first picture below is wildflowers just up the road from me. The smells from sage and flowers is wonderful.
Beavertail Cactus, Sage, Joshua Tree. Grand Wash Cliffs In Background.

This next picture should be titled "Village Idiot Road Damage".  This is just one picture, one small area of  the mess he left . These roads were in pretty good condition. Will he return to clean this up?

Aftermath Of  Village Idiot Road Grading

More yard clean up today. I love it ! My prayers to those folks in the Mississippi, Tennessee and Louisiana flood path.

Bless you all,
Cathy

  1. We are finally enjoying warmer (low 70's) weather. I planted my peas & will plant the rest of the garden in a couple of weeks. Don't want to jump-the-gun & have everything freeze out.
    Love your pics as always!!

  5. Hi Brenda!

Nice to hear from you.I made changes to my blog in the last several months. Stopped for a while and deleted 300+ posts, anything with family references because of problems with a follower. It`s nice to be back.

  6. I've been meaning to ask if your milk you purchase in your neck of the woods tastes like milk with a bit of sage flavoring. Some people years ago from the east did not like the milk in Denver because they said the cows in CO all ate feed that had sage in the fields. Odd, eh?

  7. I don`t taste sage in our local milk. Glad of it! I don`t know where our local stores get their milk. I`ve never seen a local dairy. It`s probably trucked in from Phoenix. I`m going to investigate this. Good question Nancy.

  8. You live in such a beautiful part of the country, Catherine! I love your views!

I recently replaced a 28 year old Frigidaire refrigerator with a Kenmore. It works well but has less space than mu old one for some reason even tough it is the same cubic feet size. I think the compressor takes up more room as it is on the bottom and not the back.

  9. I agree Pat. The older fridges had lots more room.

Visiting your blog often gets me yearning for the big city. Museums, parks, fine restaurants, intelligent conversation, a stimulating environment. I`m a Philly girl. My best local friend is from the Bronx and I send a link of many of your posts to her. She loves them all and forwards the link to her friends in Jersey and New York.
