Mornings and sunsets are the desert at it`s best. The quail visit twice a day for a drink of cool water. I fill the containers about 6 a:m and 5 p:m Coyotes drop in about mid morning. I`m going to cut that low branch on the Joshua. The weight is too much for the tree. That`s the Grand Wash Cliffs in the background. I like the haze. Usually by noon huge storm cells float behind them. It`s quite a sight. And now I present my quail friends.
The quail are below the Joshua Tree branches. The rabbits fled when they saw me coming. The round tub has gold bearing dirt I haven`t run yet. That tarp weighs about two hundred pounds. That`s why it`s still there. I`m going grab another cup of tea and sit outside while it`s quiet and cool.
My best friend of 25 years is near death. Her name is Sue. She has stage four lung cancer. Our sons were born the same year, same day. Her son was best man at my son`s wedding. They are still the closest of friends. Shortly after my husband passed Sue told my son who would have thought he would lose his father and her son would lose his mother in the same year. Wow! Sue is the friend you could confide in and trust. We both love our tea. I will think of her with each sip.
