I`m Back!

Thank you Followers and other visitors. For those of you who don`t know what`s been going on I was widowed five months ago. Three months later I lost my twin and her husband in a fire. It`s been a rough ride but I`m having better days and back to sewing. I finished my first project in eight or nine months, a bag for my daughter in law. I always drift to bags. It took me a month to finish it. The fabric was cut two months ago. It`s been hard to sit and I had a short attention span. Sewing for people I love has been wonderful. I am eager to do more.

This is a lined bag with two lined pockets on each side. The print fabric is Michael Miller`s Trailer Travel. The solids are Kona Solids. The tutorial is  Fresh Lemons Farmer`s Market Bag
The corners are boxed and it`s a decent size.

The drought is continuing. No wildflowers, none.  My lilacs, rosemary and  pine tree are hanging in there. That`s it for today. Thank you for visiting. I`m okay and I`ll continue to post.

Birthday Tote Bag

My daughter in law`s birthday present. These cotton fabrics were in my stash I don`t know the pattern names. I made the straps to match the lining to brighten up the bag. I know she likes blue, don`t really know about  bright floral lining. We`ll see. I hung the bag on a Joshua Tree for shade and to keep it out of the wind. My DIL is a sweetheart!

I should have added pockets but everything was going so well I decided to leave it alone.

Cold last night, but great today. My son has the bone growth stimulator now. The device is the size of a cell phone and he can wear it as much as he wants, total time two to three months . The factory rep brought it buy the house and said they`ve had great success with it. Maybe now he can avoid another surgery.

I`m going to do a little more house cleaning then start piecing a quilt and cover a few pillows.

Have a great weekend!

Think Christmas Blog Hop

Today is day one of the Think Christmas Blog Hop, sponsored by Madam Samm and hosted by
Lesley at The Cuddle Quilter. Click on the picture below to see today`s blocks. They are gorgeous! I am not participating in this Hop, but will have blocks to display at the Dots On Dots Hop (link in my sidebar) starting 10 September.

This weekend I made a tote bag with leftover fabric I had on hand. It`s about 12" x 14" and I made the straps extra long because I like to hang my bags over my shoulder. I lined it with a floral print that matched the bag. The appliques were supposed to be flowers but they look more like starfish! Oh well. The Joshua Tree was a nice place out of the wind to take the picture.

This is a sunset pic my husband took a few weeks ago. We have the prettiest sunsets after a rain.

Very humid today with just a few drops of rain. Our summers are getting hotter and dryer. I hope we have a wet winter. There has been heavy rain and flash floods nearby. The picture below is a storm that drenched the Hualapai Reservation and caused flooding at the Grand Canyon Skywalk.

Wishing you a splendid day,
Cathy
