Yesterday was beautiful, just right for cleaning up the garden beds. I cut shoots from the Lilac bush, putting them in water to root. I`ll take cuttings from the willows today. You can see the Lilac shoots in front of the bucket. Just to the right and below the smallest of my lilacs sits a Desert Mallow that will shortly have flame colored flowers. I don`t dig these up. They have a long tap root and won`t be much competition for the lilac.
The second picture is my dirty little garden table with Desert Willow seed pods dried and already open, ready for me to start in pots. If you look closely you can seed the white fluff on the seeds. The trees give great shade as well as beautiful trumpet shaped flowers. I love playing in the dirt and smelling fresh soil.

Hello Cathy, thank you for praying for my brother. How sweet of you. You cracked me up about the wind and blowing you into the lake. Made me smile.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you this Easter also. We have a Good Friday service at our church. It really is a special time for our family. 7 pastors preach on Jesus' last words.
Blessings, Linda
Hi Cathy....so nice of you to come and visit. I am not familiar with your area of AZ...but I love the idea of fresh eggs just down the street!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Easter and I hope you can visit again soon!
Oh yea! We love playing in the dirt...and the thoughts of lilacs blooming make us swoon!
ReplyDeleteStopping by to wish you a Happy Easter!
Hi Cathy,
ReplyDeleteHope you and your family have a very happy Easter. I am enjoying your photos of Spring finally arriving in your part of the USA!
Thank you Gina for visiting. I think we are finally finished with winter. My son lives in Yuma about 4 hours south of us and they were having their pool repaired yesterday. Summer is surely here. If I am right, your winter is about to start?
ReplyDeleteI`ll be by to visit your blog soon.
Cathy
I had no idea that you could root lilacs in water. I'll have to follow up on that!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are fabulous.
